right now rain-wise things are getting better. take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan and there's that rain as expected really pulling away from philadelphia and cape may and atlantic city also in the process of drying out f you're up in ocean county you're still looking at a heavy downpour but not for that much longer. we're still holding onto 52 degrees officially in philadelphia but look at how places like trenton allentown and reading have all slammed down into the 40's and we're all going to be headed down into the 40's a little bit later this morning. some spots could even get into the 30's before we turn things around slightly. also some strong gusty winds now coming in from the west and those will build as we go through the next hour or so. a 40 miles per hour gust right now in allentown, philadelphia a little breezy but still not seeing the gusts. here's where temperatures are going to go. by 9 o'clock it's not out of the question that we get all the way down into the upper 30's even if we don't it will be windy and chilly at that point and we expect to spend most of the afternoon in the low to mid 40's. i could see us getting back to about 44 by 2 o'clock but it's

going to be very blustery today and obviously cool. we have some snow in the forecast before we start talking about in warmer air next week. details coming up, karen. >> we don't want to hear about that. all right, well, right now you're just dealing with some wet roads but those gusty winds david talked about help drying us out a little bit. castor avenue at aramingo no longer raining here. we saw puddles here and there that people are driving through. slow it down a little bit. i did a little hydroplaning coming in. 95 looking slower. this is southbound traffic as you head towards center city and just starting to see that volume build and people kind of taking their speeds down a little bit as they're driving through some water in spots. spots. in fact i just got off the phone with police. they told me about a couple problems in montgomery county. one is an accident over here near perkiomen on gravel pike at plank road. the other problem is in some areas just water that you're dealing with on the roadways like right here in horsham on blair mill road at easton road. they said something is wrong with one of the storm drains out there. they haven't shut down roadway but be careful because if you're driving in this area

you're thriving through a lot of water. he they called penndot. they're going to clear the storm drains. in the meantime take it easy. we have an does the on blair mill road at whitmer. you may be seeing issues with storm drains then water is going to pile up a little bit because we got a lot of rain matt. >> breaking right now a fast moving fire left a woman critically injured this morning. it broke out on the 5900 block of north lambert street in the logan section of the city at 2:30 a.m. after putting out the fire crews found a 60-year-old woman with burns and suffering from severe smoke inhalation. she was taken to the hospital in critical condition. more on this story in a live report in the next half hour of "action news." also breaking a plan is on the run after assaulting a philadelphia police officer this morning. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live where it happened in the east oak lane neighborhood to fill us in on the investigation. annie. >> reporter: and, matt, a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute incident with a man that was allegedly holding a gun came out to police around 12:30.

when officers responded they did see that man. take a look at this video. this is when they responded. they say that a man who fit the description from that 911 call was on the front porch and refused to put his hands in the air. now, according to police he became combative punched the officer and even fell over during a tussle. now, police say at that moment it was not clear whether or not he had a weapon. take a listen. >> after falling to the ground, the male continued to kick the officer. the male got up and fled on foot. he ran west on godfrey, then north through the parking lot. police went into foot pursuit. however, they lost sight of the male behind the apartments at 100 east godfrey. >> reporter: now, police do not think that he ever had a weapon, it was just part of the 911 call. still they are looking for that man. for awhile they had tack air up, k-9 units out.

they say that they know who he is and they're hoping to find him and get him into custody hopefully soon. now, as for that officer we're told he did suffer bruises to his legs and torso. he was taken to the hospital to get checked out but he is expected to be okay. for now reporting live in east oak lane, annie mccormick channel6 "action news." >> annie thank you. it is 6:05. new here on "action news" a woman is in police custody. authorities say she stabbed two people during a brutal brawl. the fight broke out between two groups just after 1:00 this morning on the 900 block of market street in center city. police say the woman stabbed two men. they were taken to jefferson hospital in stable condition. no word on what charges the woman may face or what sparked that brawl. >> ♪ >> hillary clinton and donald trump tighten their grips on the democratic and republican nomination fight. >> they won in most of the states on super tuesday. >> clinton wouldn't primaries and caucuses in seven states. bernie sanders her democratic rival secured wins in four states including his home state of vermont. republican candidate trump has

won in seven states as well. now both clinton and trump's campaigns are moving past the primaries and are focusing on each other. >> i am a unifier. once we get all of this finished, i'm going to go after one person. that's hillary clinton. >> instead of building walls, we're going to break down barriers. >> the field remains divided. donald trump. >> after big wins in texas, oklahoma and alaska cruz says it's time for other republicans to rally around him to beat trump. marco rubio won his first state of primary season, minnesota and he insists he's staying in, that his campaign is in it for the long haul. >> apple has gone to great lengths to make its iphones thinner and thinner. the latest effort may have you doing weigh with a common components. maribel aber is live in times square with more on that. hey maribel. >> reporter: the next iphone may have earless. the iphone seven to slip

without ahead phone jack. apple could introduce the next generation iphone later this month. stocks rally yesterday. it was led by gains in banking and technology stocks. right now futures pointing to a lower open. a report on private sector job growth due outlay later today. that's the latest in business news. back over to you matt and tam. >> thank maribel. time to talk accuweather. great days are coming but we got to get through today. >> storstorm tracker6 live doube scan showing we're getting through the rain. that's issue number one. as we go a little bit closer you can see the rain is clearing away from sea isle and atlantic city. there are a couple little light sprinkles here or there, that little stuff around glassboro but that's nothing compared to what you see leaving us up around seaside heights and belmar. as we take a look outside, cloudy skies. the winds are picking up really shaking the camera down at the airport. haven't quite dried things out there yet, though so on the way in even though the rain has ended across much of the region you might still be looking at somewhat wet roads. 52 degrees in philadelphia.

that's the official number. we were up into the upper 50's not too long ago and you can see how we're dipping down into the 40's in allentown reading lancaster and even trenton. cooler air coming in during the morning commute and we're going to spend the day mainly in the 40's. in fact the low to mid 40's probably for the most part. there's also a lot of cloud cover out to the west but we are expecting some breaks in the clouds now that the rain is getting over to the east and we should wind up with the return of a decent amount of sunshine later on but up in the lehigh valley look for gusty winds and during the afternoon we're probably only inching back up to about 42 degrees after falling below that this morning. down the shore 44 is more or less what you can expect this afternoon. a fair amount of sunshine. gusty winds a part of the package. and in philadelphia, afternoon high of 44 degrees. keep in mind these numbers i'm governing are you what to prepare for later this afternoon. the official highs will all be in the 50's where we are right now in some spots and where we were a couple of hours ago in others. sun will return. gusty winds. winds gusting between 35 and

45 miles per hour. the higher gusts are in the morning behind that departing rain as a front comes through it will be a little bit less blustery later this afternoon but still pretty gusty. then overnight tonight partly cloudy brisk and colder, 27 is your overnight low still a bit on the windy side. as we take a look at tomorrow looks like clouds increase. a chilly high of 39 degrees. limited sun as clouds do build and at night there will be a little bit of light snow arriving. future tracker six showing that to you. you can see that by 6 o'clock we're dry. it's merely more late at night, 11:00 to midnight where we're expecting the light snow showers to begin. they continue into friday morning. maybe eventually mixing with a little bit of rain in parts of the region but we are looking at at least a small accumulation. there's one model that has about 3-inches. most of the rest in philadelphia averaging between a coating to an inch and i think anywhere from a coating up to an inch or two is probably fairly likely. could mean slow going on friday morning for the commute though. today windy and colder with temperatures dropping into the 40's and continuing to move on down to 27 for an overnight

city from sky6. had a lot of rain this morning but it's moving out. dave murphy says take a jacket. it will get colder and be a bit windy. >> how are things moving right now karen. >> we're moving okay on i-95. not seeing a huge delay. i would expect you're going to be dealing with water on the roadway even though the rain pushing out of here because we got a good amount of it. but this is i-95 at girard. that's your southbound traffic headed towards center city and we could see still a 15 minute ride so the volume is building for sure but not a big delay kicking in just yet. checking on the ben, the ben is looking good. light volume westbound heading into the city. no speed restrictions on the ben so you don't have any issues out there even though the roads a little wet. i was talking to police in montgomery county and they were telling me they were having a problem in horsham on blair mill road at easton with one of the storm drains. they're trying to clear it out. in the process of clearing at this point but in some spots you might see a lot of water if the drains are clogged. blair mill road at when it mer we have an accident. on the waze app we found speedy four talking about a pothole on markley street in norristown so don't speed over

the pothole maybe. storm tracker6 live double scan showing us the rain that was kind of heavy at times moving through the suburbs into the city. it's just hugging the coastline now. so, we've got the water on the roadways but the rain itself is confined to the garden state parkway near surf city, seaside heights and you're still getting hit pretty good in belmar. maybe a few sprinkles between 206 and wrightstown medford and glassboro near 322. tam. >> thank you karen. new on "action news" two people were killed when an suv flood a crowded pizza shop outside of boston. officials say the vehicle never stopped as it barreled into the building. seven people including the driver were injured. three of them pretty seriously. police have not released any information about the two people who were killed or if this driver is going to be charged. >> also new on "action news" a police report conducted by the lapd find when officers fire their weapons in that city they are disproportionately aiming at black citizens or the mentally ill. the police department released

a lot of people in bayonne, new jersey are going to be kissing the ground in a few minutes. royal caribbean's anthem of the seas is back at its north injuries seaport in bayonne. the captain chose to of avoid a storm in the atlantic ocean. there are reports some people on board were suffering from norovirus. now remember this is the same ship the anthem of the seas that headed into another atlantic storm earlier this month. and that forced pass injuries to hunker down in their rooms for about 12 hours as the ship was tossed around like a bath toy. so, this ship just not a lot of luck. >> oh, man. >> morning team adventure. >> the storm and a norovirus. that's just not right. let's take a look outside right now. it's wet on the roads. moving okay on the boulevard but it's a bit slow here at ninth street. got a lot of ponding and puddling here and there but the rain has ended here on the boulevard. looking okay. what do you know, regional rails, patco, new jersey transit, dart, everything is on time this morning, dave. >> things are drying out on the big board. storm tracker6 live double scan showing that the last of

the rain is just about ready to clear the north jersey coast but it is going to be cool today. low 50's in philadelphia right now but temperatures are dropping. by 9 o'clock i think there's a chance we're down closer to 40 and we probably only bounce back up to about 44 degrees. that is my expected afternoon high. the official high of the day will be in the 50 but we're already kind of past that at this point. we are dressing the kids warmly as i mentioned. both in the morning but especially in the afternoon where winds are going to gust up to 30 to 40 miles per hour. matt and tam. >> thank you david. the first question everyone asks me is always the same. what time do you get up in the morning? the second is when are you going to be on the preston and steve show next? this morning we turn the tables. now preston and steve is on "action news." >> momentarily. >> scott kelly who is the astronaut in the suit is funny stuff. >> the preston and steve show as a collective has been together on wmmr for more than a decade. >> we kind of can read each other, we have a varying

>> ♪ >> braking now on "action news" a police officer is injured fighting off a suspect who tried to push him over a railing. >> more breaking news. fire at a philadelphia apartment building leaves a woman badly burned. >> storm tracker6 live double scan radar shows some of the rain pushing out finally to sea but now we're waiting to deal with another weather factor. >> good morning. just about 6:30 on this wednesday march 2nd. we also have the final super tuesday results. first up david and karen. good morning. >> good morning, everybody. and rain is now off the coast. take a quick look at storm tracker6 live double scan and you can see that that rain is clearing the area. while there are still some rather dark clouds over most of south jersey i'm beginning to see things brighten up here over philadelphia and we are expecting the return of some sunshine. and look at how the

temperatures have continued to dip down into the 40's in places like lancaster, reading, allentown, even over toward trenton. in philadelphia we're still officially holding 52 but when the next hourly post comes out in about 29, 28 minutes we are probably going to see us dip down into the 40's in philadelphia as well. also there's some strong wind gusts out to the west of us. 40 in allentown and up close to 30 in wilmington. lancaster now seeing a 41 miles per hour gust. those stronger winds are also coming in our direction. 40 degrees by 9 o'clock, about the same by 11:00. we might dip into the 30's in a couple of spots although the winds are drying the roads out so -- and we'll stay well above freezing so no icy spots. this afternoon we're staying in the low to mid 40's. i could see us getting back to about 44 by 2 o'clock but that's it and it's going to be a blustery day. we are looking at the arrival of some light snow thursday night. could still be falling for the friday morning commute. details on that coming up karen. >> all right, dave, we're starting to jam up on the schuylkill and here's why. we've got an accident just coming in on the schuylkill expressway.

this is eastbound at the conshohocken curve. you can see it's off to the side. we see two vehicles here. penndot on the scene with this so watch for that eastbound traffic really jamming up at the conshohocken curve due to an accident off to the side right now. westbound people kind of stopping and checking it out as well so getting slow in both directions on the schuylkill expressway with that new accident at the conshohocken curve. looking live on the vine street expressway look how westbound traffic really jamming up right now as you try head towards the schuylkill expressway. so, we're jammed on the westbound vine heading towards the schuylkill and david mentioned the roads kind of drying out after those gusty winds and that's what we're seeing right now. you still have some areas of ponding perhaps where you had storm drain issues but we're looking a lot drier on i-95 but starting to get heavy, too. this southbound traffic already a 21 minute ride from woodhaven to the vine so starting to jam on i-95. here's a look at 422 eastbound right now as we look live here at trooper. already a two minute delay with no delay it would be seven minutes. it's a nine minute ride from oaks to 202, tam. >> okay, thank you karen.

we continue to follow breaking news. a search going on rider now for a suspect. he injured a philadelphia police officer during a struggle overnight. let's head on over to "action news" reporter annie mccormick. she's live in east oak lane with the latest that we're learning now. good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning, tam. and it was around 12:30 that a frantic 911 call is what brought police out here. it was reports of a domestic dispute and a man -- a woman claiming that there was a man with a gun. well, take a look at this video. this is video taken when police were on the scene. when police responded a man who fit the description from that 911 call was on the front porch and refused to put his hands in the air according to police. authorities tell us they needed the make sure he did not have a weapon and that's when things got heated. >> so l-police went to frisk him for their own protection, that's when the male physically became combative with the officer. this male then punched the officer several times in his face, then grabbed the officer

where the male and the officer fell over the railing by the steps. >> reporter: back out here live police say contrary to the 911 call that man did not have a weapon. however he did get away. as you heard they're still looking for him. for awhile they had k-9 units out but also tack air but because of the weather overnight it did affect their search. also the officer we were told he did suffer bruises to his torso and also to his face. he was taken to a local hospital and he is expected to be okay. for now reporting live in east oak lane, annie mccormick channel6 "action news." >> thanks annie. we have more breaking news, this time in the city's logan section where a woman suffered serious burns in an apartment building fire. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live at that scene on north lambert street. katherine. >> reporter: that's right, matt, a 60-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. fire crews have left the scene but the police department vehicle remains where the fire began this morning. there's quite a bit of damage to the first floor of this two

story home here in logan but there's no damage to the homes next door. this fire broke out around 2:40 this morning on the 5900 block of north lambert street and will fire crews arrived, they say they were met with heavy smoke coming from the unit. neighbors told fire crews that a woman was still inside and they did find her on the first floor. she had burns and was suffering from severe smoke inhalation. they rushed her to the hospital. the fire was placed under control in less than 20 minutes and we're told the flames were confined to the first floor. people in the surrounding homes were along howed back inside. the fire marshal was on the scene earlier. the cause of this fire remains under investigation. we're live in logan, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> katherine, thank you for that. and new this morning a delaware driver was killed after losing control and runing into a tree. this happened around 2:30 this morning at the intersection of east justice and north augustine streets in newport. accident investigators are still there on the scene. it is unclear if our rainy weather played a role in that deadly wreck.

>> just about 6:35 and the super tuesday results are in. as expected democrat hillary clinton and republican donald trump are both one step closer to their party's presidential nominations, each won seven states but the remaining rivals show no signs of dropping out. bernie sanders picked up wins in four states including his home state of vermont. clinton used herjavecer to speech last night to take aim at her republican opponents. >> rhetoric we're hearing on the other side has never been lower. trying to divide america between us and them is wrong and we're not going to let it work. >> trump won more than 200 delegates yesterday and takes 1200 -- it takes 1237 to win the gop nomination. trump was a bit more gracious to his competitors in his victory speech. >> i want to congratulate ted on the winning of texas. he worked hard on it. i know it was a very tough

night for marco rubio. he had a tough night but he worked hard. >> now, ted cruz notched victories in three states including super tuesday's biggest prize, his home state of texas and alaska which came in late. marco rubio, trump did say he had a tough night but he did notch his very first state victory in minnesota. tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. this all comes ahead of primary elections right here in the tri-state area but voters won't head to the polls in pennsylvania or delaware until tuesday april 26th toward the end of the month and in new jersey voters are have to wait until june 7th in order to cast their ballots. and there is new information on the alleged members of a notorious crime ring rounded up after a dramatic police chase on the schuylkill expressway. this is some brand new video from tredyffrin township. police took six of the seven suspects to chester county jail overnight. they have been linked to the felony lane gang wanted for thefts across the country. police started pursuing some of the suspects in an suv when it sped out of the valley fair

in philadelphia but it's starting to feel a little colder out there and a lot of suburbs are beginning to dip down into the 40's. that's where we're going to wind up in philadelphia before much longer. winds are starting to pick up too. 16 miles per hour and we'll start to build those guests. right now some of the northern and western suburbs like the lehigh valley out towards lancaster berks county you're starting to get those wind gusts between 30 and 40 miles per hour and that's building in. still looks kind of cloudy out to the west on satellite but these are high thin clouds and we expect them to break up. we should return a fair amount of sunshine during the day. it's going to be chilly. possible we're still down into the upper 30's in some spots between eight and 10 o'clock. if we don't get that low, win is picking up and it's still going to feel pretty chilly. in the afternoon we're in the lower 40's probably getting up to a high of 43 and blustery winds throughout the day. these highs i'm post regular where i expect us to be around the earl to midafternoon hours. your official highs will be in the 50's which is where some of us are right now. 42 in allentown, 42 is where

we'll be later today in trenton, 43 reading, a couple degrees milder down south. wind a part of the package today. winds gusting to 30 to 40 miles per hour. in fact look out for trash cans and i've been having the last couple weeks recycling blow all over the neighborhood so some debris out there. tomorrow clouding up during the day and then at night we get some light snow showers beginning to build in. these continue off and on overnight into friday morning and by the time all is said and done, most models suggesting a pretty light accumulation in philadelphia, perhaps under an inch. there is one, the gfs that has us all the way up to three. i would plan for somewhere in the half inch to inch or so accumulation but the tail end of it could be during the morning commute then means it could be slow go on friday morning and even a little bit of that stuff could cause trouble. today temperatures falling into the 40's and continuing to go down into the 30's tonight and hitting 27 for an overnight low. windy today, very blustery and colder than yesterday. then brick and chilly on thursday a high of 39.

good morning. >> we're backing up on the schuylkill expressway eastbound. this is a live look near the blue route and you can see how that eastbound traffic really jamming at this point and that's because of the accident we've been telling you about on the schuylkill eastbound at the conshohocken curve. it was blocking a lane. it's off to the side right now but watch for an extra slow go. we found people on the waze app talking about that heavy traffic right now that you're dealing with on the schuylkill eastbound near west conshohocken with that accident at conshohocken curve. was blocking a lane. now all the lanes at this point back opened but as they clear that accident out they may need to restrict it again so that's causing a slow go on the schuylkill expressway and we can see those speeds of about 23 miles an hour here near that point with that accident on the schuylkill expressway eastbound near the curve. boulevard you're looking at 28 miles an hour as you head towards the schuylkill southbound. i-95 about 23 on i-95 southbound near girard so starting to slow up. we are seeing a problem on the boulevard at f street. we're reporting malfunctioning traffic lights so be careful in that area especially at that intersection with the

malfunctioning traffic light. you got to treat it as a four-way stop. we've got an accident in chester on butterworth at manor road. watch for that accident causing restriction and a pretty good size backup on 42. we're watching that northbound traffic if you're coming in from deptford or turnersville you're dealing with a slow go at this point looking live near creek road. we had lots of water on the roadway. we are driving through the ponding and puddling. the winds are helping to dry us out because that rain is kick canning out of here. 52 degrees right now in philadelphia. 49 in millville. 45 in allentown. we're in the process of dropping. we're in the 50's now. we'll just be in the low 40's this afternoon, tam. >> okay, thank you, karen. philadelphia police are searching for the shooter whose ambushed two men during a home invasion. this happened just before 9 o'clock last night in the 2400 block of north tenth street. both victims were slot in the leg. one man will recover. the second one though is in critical condition. police don't know why the suspects targe targeted the pai. they didn't steal anything from that home. philadelphia's district attorney must now decide if a

licensed gun owner acted in self-defense when he shot two men on the street. it happened at second and bainbridge in queen village last night. police say two young men verbally attacked a 65-year-old man and his wife then they punched the man and that's when the older man opened fire. the suspects are in the hospital. the gun owner suffered bruising to his face. his wife was not physically hurt. >> new this morning, astronaut scott kelly is back on earth after spending a year in space. crews had to carry kell al weigh from his landing site in kazakhstan. the lack of gravity over the last 340 days on the international space station has made his bones and muscles weak. scientists will study the changes in kelly's body compared with his identical twin brother mark who has been on earth all this time. lucky him. it is part of nasa's goal to make sure astronauts can handle a trip to mars and back. >> it will be interesting to see what they find. it's 6:46. a live preview of "gma" is up next. david. >> some of us are slipping into the 40's and those still in the 50's will be in the 40's before too much longer. winds are picking up.
